On Nov. 3, 2020, RFID Journal presented the webinar  "Unlock RFID's Full Potential in Retail," sponsored by  Murata ID Solutions. From supply chain visibility to visual merchandising, this online event discussed the applications and advantages of RFID in manufacturing, in distribution and at the store level. With experience in operations and supply chain management, Murata offers RFID systems designed to provide visibility and improve manufacturing and logistics operations for retailers.

The webinar's speaker, Murata CEO Francesco Fantoni Guerci, explained how technologies and business-intelligence tools can turn important RFID data into valuable assets, providing a competitive advantage at every step of a product's life cycle, as well as how to leverage RFID investments. He has led the company since its startup phase and is primarily focused on developing new business solutions and strategic relationships with channel partners.

Murata demonstrated how high-end fashion retailers are deploying its solutions at the manufacturing and distribution levels, along with the outcomes and benefits. At stores, it applies RFID to inventory counts, back room replenishment and visual merchandising. One retailer uses Murata's technology to gain visibility into how well its merchandise performs at specific display locations. The company, launched in 2005, spun off from the University of Parma and has been part of Murata Group since 2017.
