Apparel and footwear retailers were struggling with buy online, pickup in store (BOPIS) before the Covid-19 crisis. Using bar code technology to take inventory results in item-level inventory accuracy of less than 70 percent. Now, with shoppers reluctant to go out due to the pandemic, retailers find themselves with a large increase in on-line orders and are struggling to fulfill them.
