Infinix Introduces 720° SphereTech NFC Technology

Infinix has introduced 720° SphereTech NFC technology, designed to tackle current limitations of tap and go with a smartphone needing precise alignment.

Company officials note while current NFC technology enables mobile payments and transit access, it often results in transaction failures and user frustration, particularly in crowded or fast-paced environments where precise alignment is necessary for successful interactions, which can be cumbersome and unreliable.

This technology comes with three major breakthroughs: spatial layout, signal compatibility, and material type configuration. The enhanced design ensures superior integration, while the improved signal range and strength guarantee optimal performance, according to the company. Similarly, the use of optimized materials further boosts reliability and efficiency. This proprietary, self-developed patent has increased the card reading area by 200 percent and doubled the signal range.

Additionally, the new is the first to support reading and tapping cards from three sides of the mobile device, such as the front, top, and back, achieving a 100 percent signal range improvement compared to the existing 360° NFC technology, which only reads cards from the back. This innovation allows users to read and tap at different angles, providing unparalleled convenience and functionality.

“Our commitment to innovation and understanding user needs has driven us to create a solution that not only enhances functionality but also provides unparalleled security and convenience for our users]”, said Li Cao, Senior Manager, NFC Department of Infinix. “The 720° SphereTech NFC significantly improves the mobile experience in NFC applications, offering seamless, reliable, and secure interactions from multiple angles.”

OMNI Acquires Ohio RFID Company

OMNI Systems has finished the acquisition of Honeywell International’s media business. Honeywell products that will transition to OMNI include barcode labels, media tags, receipt paper, thermal media and medical identification wristbands. The acquisition adds RFID and Linerless label capabilities to OMNI’s already robust list of services and solutions.

OMNI bills itself as the largest consumer of thermal media from the nation’s leading raw material suppliers, allowing the company to offer the industry’s lowest prices while providing exceptional service, quality and deliverability.

Officials from OMNI said they are committed to growing by focusing on its core strengths—supplying clients with high-quality labels at the lowest label prices while delivering exceptional service which includes guaranteed on-time delivery. Global companies like Amazon, Target, Tyson Foods and other leading Fortune 500 businesses use the company for thermal media and multi-color custom printed label requirements, including consultative services with expert application analysts and R&D engineers.

OMNI will continue operating from the previous Honeywell location in West Chester Township, OH. The acquisition resulted in approximately 50 new employees joining the OMNI team, and the company’s growth plans include adding a third shift and another 50-100 jobs by the end of the year.

Soracom Expands Skylo Integration in Global Limited Preview

Soracom announced on July 17 that its integration with Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) service operator Skylo has progressed from Private Beta status to a global initial service rollout to select Soracom customers.

Soracom CTO and co-founder Kenta Yasukawa and Skylo CEO and co-founder Parth Trivedi offered that qualified customers around the world can now activate Skylo connectivity on their Soracom SIMs/eSIMs and enable their devices to switch seamlessly between cellular and NTN.

The two companies announced a partnership last year designed to give customers building IoT solutions and M2M devices access to Skylo’s direct-to-device 3GPP NTN connectivity, along with the advanced capability of Soracom’s fully-virtualized cellular platform. Following a successful Private Beta period, that service is now available commercially in limited preview, and can be activated directly by qualified customers in consultation with Soracom, a global provider of advanced IoT connectivity.

Skylo’s satellite NTN lets chipsets, modems, modules, and devices designed for terrestrial networks connect via existing satellites using the global 3GPP Release 17 standard. Customers with devices located in North America, Europe, and Oceania that include 3GPP R.17-capable LPWAN modules can now use Soracom’s Subscription Containers feature to add the Skylo-based satellite connectivity plan (called “planNT1”) over the air (OTA) to Soracom “plan01s” and “plan-US” IoT SIM cards.

“Soracom is committed to an Internet of Things without limits, where anything can connect to any cloud from anywhere,” said Yasukawa. “Now, customers can add Skylo’s breakthrough 3GPP NTN coverage to their devices while still taking full advantage of Soracom’s CMP and platform to control their connections, cloud integrations, and data use.”
