Samsara Launches Enterprise-Grade Asset Tag
Samsara Inc. recently released the first enterprise-grade Asset Tag designed to meet customer demand for tracking and managing small, high-value assets.
This new device is being promoted as leveraging the Samsara Network to offer increased visibility into the location of mission-critical equipment and tools. As a result, organizations can minimize downtime spent searching for lost or stolen items, reduce associated costs, and simplify inventory management.
Samsara, through its connected operations cloud, offers a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations.
Samsara’s Asset Tag is being offered as sensors get more compact, sophisticated, easier to install, and can track anything – big or small. The company’s new product connects critical assets to the cloud for the first time, allowing customers to capture and analyze location insights to significantly improve operational efficiency.
David Gal, vice president, product and engineering at Samsara, said the Asset Tag was born from a “radical idea” of using the millions of Samsara Gateways in the field to create a network, enabling ‘tags’ to ping off those devices.
“With this, we’d unlock a level of asset tracking that was previously impossible and solve even more real-world problems for our customers,” said David Gal. “After months of rigorous testing and customer feedback, I’m excited to see this vision become a reality. As we further connect every aspect of physical operations, we can turn massive amounts of data into valuable insights and drive real results.”
Qorvo Extends RF Multi-Chip in Radar Applications
Qorvo announced the launch of three new highly integrated RF multi-chip modules (MCMs) designed for advanced radar applications.
Company officials are touting the new modules as leveraging Qorvo’s advanced packaging and optimal process technology to deliver the compact size, superior performance, lower noise and reduced power consumption needed for modern phased array and multifunction radar systems.
The three new chips are QPF5001, a 12W X-band front-end module (FEM); QPM2101, a S-band Receive variable gain amplifier (VGA) MCM; and QPB1029, a L-band filter bank MCM.
Doug Bostrom, general manager of Qorvo’s defense and aerospace business, noted the new multi-chip modules combine several functions into one package, reducing board area, boosting performance and streamlining both design and assembly for our customers.
“This approach underscores our commitment to innovation and customer success by helping accelerate their time-to-market,” said Bostrom. “Complemented by our recent acquisition of Anokiwave and associated beamformer technology, Qorvo is well positioned to provide complete solutions for phased array radar applications.”
Fingerprints, IN Groupe Launch Secure Component Solution for Contactless Biometric Card
Fingerprint Cards AB and IN Groupe, through is SPS brand, have launched a secure component solution for contactless biometric payment cards, supporting global card manufacturers to scale up production of next-generation payment cards.
The companies partnered last year with the aim to simplify the manufacturing process, allowing for increased production by improving reliability and reducing costs. Through SPS brand of IN Groupe, the next-generation cards are now ready for mass global rollout. SPS’s cards incorporate Fingerprints’ second-generation T-Shape (T2) sensor module and software platform, which offers ultra-low power consumption and leading biometric performance and is based on STMicroelectronics STPay-Topaz-Bio solution.
Fingerprints CEO Adam Philpott said “the launch of these cards into the market reinforces Fingerprints’ position as the world leader in biometrics and commitment to providing innovative solutions that improve our daily lives.”
Jean-Baptiste Leos, product director for SPS banking products at IN Groupe, added that technical support around card construction, milling and embedding and certification are key assets for the product deployment and will be our key priority in the coming quarters.”
“We are very pleased to have expanded our product offering with Fingerprints’ next-generation biometric technology,” said Leos. “This helps us in our mission to continue innovating and offer secure and cost-effective biometric solutions to our customers. As a part of our offer,
