Sheetz, a convenience store chain with 630 stores across six states, has chosen a unified retail planning solution provided by  RELEX Solutions. The retailer will use the technology to help position it for store and supply chain growth as well as dynamic marketing opportunities.

Sheetz had sought technology that could support demand planning across its supply chain network within a single system. The RELEX solution will help improve collaboration and visibility throughout the retailer's vertically integrated network.

"By partnering with RELEX, our corporate demand planners have the ability to improve processes that support our distribution and inventory management strategies," said Bill Ruggles, Director of Procurement for Sheetz in a statement. "RELEX will ultimately help ensure Sheetz customers have what they want, when they want it, 24/7/365."

The RELEX solution is designed to improve inventory optimization at the store level as well as further upstream, according to Susan Boyme, VP, Strategic Accounts at RELEX. "It can help with managing promotions as well as fresh product inventory, to help reduce spoilage and out of stocks," Boyme said in an interview with RFID Journal's sister publication,  Retail TouchPoints. "Additionally, by automating formerly manual processes such as ordering, the technology can help retailers deal with the current high cost of labor."
