Auburn University and GS1 US will discuss the Chain Integration Project (CHIP)—a study of several brands and retailers exploring the use of blockchain and RFID to solve common retail industry challenges, such as reducing claims and chargebacks, and improving product authentication. They will outline how GS1 Standards are foundational to blockchain, as they provide consistent data formats and allow external systems to work more efficiently. Also, the team will share lessons learned from early implementations, as well as the benefits of using item serialization in the retail supply chain.
