A passive RFID transponder is composed of a microchip and an antenna, as well as substrate on which these are mounted. The chips are provided by a number of companies, including Alien Technology, Impinj, NXP Semiconductors, ST Microelectronics and others. The antenna can be etched copper, wire, conductive ink and so forth. The substrate can be made of polyethylene terephthalate or another plastic or paper material.
