ProMach is expanding its North American footprint.

The Cincinnati-based company announced on April 22 it has acquired Mexican pressure-sensitive and RFID labels producer Etiflex. This move marks ProMach’s first foray into the Mexican market and bolsters its labelling and coding capabilities across North America.

Headquartered in Mexico City, Etiflex is one of the largest converters for variable information-printed labels, tickets, and RFID labelling.

ProMach president and CEO Mark Anderson said the global processing and packaging machinery solutions company sees the addition of Etiflex continues the expansion of their label-converting capabilities.

Details of ProMach, Etiflex Deal

“[The acquisition] significantly extends our ability to offer a complete portfolio of labelling equipment solutions beyond our existing markets in the United States and Canada,” stated Anderson in an announcement.

Etiflex supplies label-converting solutions to various industries, including food and beverage, automotive, pharmaceutical, and personal care as well as producing tickets, badges, and bracelets for events and transportation. The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.

“This acquisition truly supports our commitment to provide best-in-class labelling and coding solutions and support from a partner that is geographically close to our customers, wherever they are located throughout North America,” said Anderson.

Merging Operations

Following the acquisition, more than 500 Etiflex staffers will become part of ProMach’s Labeling & Coding business line, under the leadership of group president Alan Shipman.

Etiflex’s leadership will remain intact, with co-director generals Sergio Shor and Ari Vonderwalde continuing to lead the team post-transaction.

Shor will serve as VP and general manager while Vonderwalde will become VP of operations. In a joint statement, Shor and Vonderwalde said “joining ProMach’s Labeling & Coding group is an exciting opportunity to continue and expand our original vision that has guided us for over 40 years…ProMach has a proven track record of success and a reputation of investing in its companies to leverage everyone’s strengths, offer more complete solutions, and better serve its customers.”

ProMach’s vertically integrated product portfolio, which spans labels and machinery, is supported by 17 regional sales and service offices, along with eight label-converting facilities. These facilities provide a variety of labels, from decorative high-volume or short-run labels using flexographic and digital capabilities to blank and shell labels, RFID labels, specialty labels, and more.
