Key Takeaways
- Morrisons will roll out Everseen’s Evercheck Vision AI across 200 stores to keep self-checkout lines moving without slowing down shoppers.
- The technology checks transactions rather than people, avoiding facial recognition or shopper profiling entirely.
UK’s supermarket chain Morrisons has selected Everseen, a global leader in Vision AI solutions for the retail industry, in a long-term strategic partnership that will see the deployment of its Evercheck solution across 200 Morrisons stores in the initial rollout phase, enhancing the checkout experience for customers and colleagues alike.
As customer expectations evolve toward faster, more convenient shopping experiences, self-service checkouts have become increasingly popular with Morrisons customers, ensuring a quick and efficient way to pay for items, accoriding to the retailer.
Evercheck platform uses real-time computer vision to simplify the self-checkout process. On-screen prompts allow shoppers to easily correct any missed items themselves, keeping queues moving. The software integrates seamlessly with existing systems, optimizing store operations and freeing store teams to focus entirely on customer service.
Why Morrisons Chose Everseen for Its Self-Checkout Rollout
Following a successful trial, Morrisons committed to deploying Everseen’s Vision AI technology to address a critical challenge in modern retail: delivering the convenience and speed of self-checkout while maintaining a seamless, frustration-free shopping experience for customers. Besides their supermarkets, Morrisons has 1,700 convenience stores.
“Our new partnership with Everseen enables us to provide the fast and seamless checkout experience our customers want, while simultaneously equipping our colleagues to maintain the exceptional service that Morrisons is known for,” said Francesca Bezoari, Store Support Office Director at Morrisons, in a statement.
How Evercheck Protects Shopper Privacy Without Facial Recognition
Trusted by 11 of the top 20 global retailers, Everseen’s technology is deployed across more than 150,000 checkouts live and 10,000 stores globally. Evercheck uses computer vision to compare what’s scanned against what’s in the basket. If something looks missed, the screen prompts you to rescan.
Officials from both companies stressed the transaction will not be used to identity of the person at checkout, it does not use facial recognition and doesn’t profile, identify, or target shoppers.
“Morrisons recognize that the best AI solutions deliver measurable results without compromising the customer experience,” said Joe White, CEO of Everseen. “Our Vision AI platform enables Morrisons to improve its satisfaction scores, proving that operational performance and customer service aren’t competing priorities. We’re proud to bring our experience from deploying across thousands of global checkouts to support Morrisons transformation.”
