To answer your question, I reached out directly to Alien Technology. Here is the company’s response: “You cannot connect an external DC power supply of any type to a Higgs 3 tag. The internal circuitry is not designed to power up or receive ISO 18006C commands in this manner. These tags are designed for passive operation only.”
