September 23, 2004—According to RFID skeptic and consumer advocacy group CASPIAN (Consumers Against Supermarket Privacy Invasion and Numbering), RFID manufacturer Checkpoint Systems has landed a large contract with a well-known clothes retailer to tag individual articles of the company’s clothing. While the initiative’s details — including the retailer’s identity — remain under wraps, CASPIAN names Calvin Klein, Champion, and Abercrombie & Fitch as possible candidates, with the latter being the most likely.
