Jan 24, 2019—
RFID Journal announced today that speakers from Daimler and BAE Systems will be featured in general sessions at RFID Journal LIVE! 2019. The conference and exhibition will be held on Apr. 2-4, at Arizona's Phoenix Convention Center. Each presentation will highlight the successful use of radio frequency identification technologies to improve business operations and increase efficiencies.
Juergen Hartmann, who handles logistics planning assembly, standardization and innovation at Daimler AG, will discuss how the German automaker has improved supply chain efficiencies by deploying RFID technology across various product lines. Daimler has been exploring a variety of applications since 2010, and now has visibility into shipments leaving its suppliers' facilities. LIVE! attendees will learn how the firm has automated goods receipt and material calls, and how it plans to add new applications to further improve efficiencies (see Daimler Truck Factory Boosts Productivity).
BAE Systems, an international defense, aerospace and security company, has deployed three RFID-enabled projects at its Electronic Warfare Integrated Manufacturing Center (EW-IMC): automated point-of-use (POU) material inventory replenishment, automated asset and tool tracking, and automated work-in-process (WIP) tracking. Deirdre Schmidt, BAE's operations excellence leader, will explain how these projects increased production capacity and capability in its supply chain and at its factories, thereby ensuring the success of current and future production programs for its customers. Attendees will hear how the firm improved the utilization of existing capacity across its sites, boosting manufacturing capability and product flow, while creating a process to accelerate production transitions (see Aerospace Company Gains Efficiency Threefold With RFID).
Additional general sessions and keynotes will be finalized during the coming weeks. LIVE! 2019 will also feature four industry-specific and four technical conference tracks, as well as six in-depth preconference seminars and workshops, presentations by the RFID Journal Awards finalists, fast-track training provided by RFID4U, and the opportunity for attendees to take the RFID Professional Institute's certification exam. The event is co-located with IEEE RFID 2019, the world's most important RFID technical event.
The LIVE! 2019 exhibition will feature nearly 200 companies from 25 countries exhibiting the latest RFID hardware, software and services. Many companies will host live demonstrations in the exhibit hall. Discounts for registering early will expire on Friday, Jan. 25. For more information, visit www.rfidjournallive.com.
