Lessons Learned From RFID Case Studies: Using RFID Applications to Manage Perishable Products

Published: February 5, 2013

Tracking food products can easily be accomplished with various types of serialization technologies, such as bar codes. However, bar codes lack the benefits offered by RFID, which allows for the collection of valuable information without human intervention, and provides a reduction in human errors, a decrease in labor costs and an increase in ROI for product tracking. In this session, hear how suppliers and retailers are managing perishable products by “first expired, first out” (FEFO) prioritizing, rather than by the traditional “first in, first out” (FIFO) method. Learn how these companies are employing RFID to reduce waste, improve product quality consistency and optimize labor.
