Item-Level RFID: Where the Benefits Are for Suppliers

Published: February 26, 2013

The University of Arkansas’ RFID Research Center recently released the next phase of its supplier ROI project study. The study, involving seven of the highest-volume EPC-enabled retail apparel suppliers, focused on specific areas of value, and offered significant findings regarding how radio frequency identification can help save money and improve efficiencies in supplier operations, particularly in the inbound-receiving, pick-and-pack and outbound-audit processes. RFID will have a broad, long-term impact on retailer claims, shipment accuracy, ordering processes, data transfer and advance shipping notices, as well as on many other fundamental aspects of an apparel supplier’s relationship with retailers. This study contains actual data showing the magnitude of these changes as they occur.
