Sam’s Club’s announcement that it plans to employ RFID tags to automate the checkout process is a potentially game-changing event. If viable, automated checkout would dramatically reduce checkout times, enhance the customer experience and cause retailers not using RFID to take note. This session will focus on whether automated checkout is viable, when the technology might become available, how it can be implemented and additional retail RFID applications that could improve the customer experience.
