Successful use of technology to improve construction productivity involves more than mastering the technical characteristics of the technology. The Construction Industry Institute (CII) Research Team 240 evaluated the influence of external factors during two field tests of materials tracking and locating technologies, which were conducted to measure how using such technologies can improve productivity on prototypical construction projects. In this session, hear about the results of projects in Rockdale, Texas, and Toronto. Learn how the field tests showed that RFID not only improved the productivity of the construction force and the retrieval of materials in the lay-down areas, but also improved the predictability and reliability that materials would be available when needed.
