Mifare is a trademark of NXP Semiconductors for integrated circuits and reader modules. Mifare ICs are used in more than 1 billion RFID transponders. These chips comply with the international standard ISO/IEC 14443 Type A, which is widely used in contactless smart cards. In other words, Mifare is a brand of RFID.
