Ask The ExpertsDo Any RFID Tags Operate at the Same Frequency as Bluetooth?
RFID Journal Staff asked 12 years ago

Are you familiar with any companies that create tags that would meet this criterion? I am exploring a new consumer use for radio frequency identification. In addition, I seek recent publications exploring the most up-to-date advances in the RFID field. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Matt,

Bluetooth devices operate at 2.4 to 2.8 GHz. There are a number of firms that offer RFID tags operating at 2.45 GHz, including Tagsense, WhereNet (owned by Zebra Technologies), Ekahau and AeroScout. The last two companies' offerings employ Wi-Fi protocols. I am unaware of any tag and reader combination utilizing the Bluetooth protocol.

As far as publications that explore the most up-to-date advances in RFID go, RFID Journal covers everything about the technology. The only other resource out there is the Global RF Lab Alliance, which offers a publication featuring academic papers. I hope that helps.
