I am not aware of any high-frequency (HF) tags designed to withstand the vulcanization process, so I reached out to Patrick King, Michelin's leader for global electronics strategies, who has contributed greatly to developing an RFID standard for tires (AIAG B11). According to King, ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) technology has been adopted globally for tracking tires, and the ISO 17367 standard describes UHF curing in detail. Hardened HF tags, he says, can damage tires, and tags that aren't hardened get destroyed very quickly once the rubber hits the road, so to speak.
If an application is not tire-related and an HF solution is required, take a look at laundry tags from Escort Memory Systems (EMS), Omron and Tagsys, or request a customized solution from William Frick & Co.
