Is this possible? And if not, what are some alternatives?

Jose,

Sewn in? No. Can an RFID tag be baked into the rubber during the manufacturing process? I believe so, yes. Michelin tested tags in tires several years ago (see Michelin Embeds RFID Tags in Tires, Michelin Shrinks Its eTire Pressure Monitor and Michelin Adds Value by Embedding RFID in Truck Tires), and a company called SmartRes has developed a specially coated wire tag that it says can be put inside tires (see SmartRes Explains Its Unique Way of Producing RFID Transponders and Interviews With Microtracking, SmartRes and MetraTec). These tags are featured in a video on our RFID Journal LIVE! Europe site.
