To answer this question, we reached out to the experts at VDC Research Group, an organization that tracks the RFID market. According to VDC, global shipments of all RFID handheld readers, covering all frequencies, will rise to $128.7 million this year, up from $114.5 million in 2008. VDC forecasts sales to rise to $149.9 million in 2010, for a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.4 percent. Unit sales, meanwhile, are expected to rise to 550,700 in 2919, up from last year’s 408,100. That’s a CAGR of 16.2 percent.
