Upstart tech snares $22M

July 11, 2004—Impinj, maker of the Zuma RFID system released earlier this year, has received $22 million in financing from the likes of consumer goods giant Unilever, shipping company UPS, and prestigious Silicon Valley-based venture firm Mobius. The cash infusion puts the 60-employee company’s total funding at $50 million. Impinj president William Colleran predicts profitability by the middle of 2005 at the earliest.
