New trends often first emerge at schools and universities, and RFID Journal’s sister publication Campus Safety is typically among first trade publications to cover them. This Thursday, the magazine will host a webinar during which Campus Safety’s editor-in-chief, Robin Hattersley, will provide an overview of the many crime, social, drug, law-enforcement, emergency-management and technology trends the publication has uncovered throughout the past few years.
Those developments include mental health and suicide, pandemic response, vaping and opioids, domestic terrorism and hate crimes, #MeToo, controversial speakers on campus, cybersecurity issues, video surveillance, lockdown, guns on campus, active assailant response, homelessness, litigation and fines, public safety department staffing, access control and more.
Hattersley will discuss several of the emerging trends shared by safety and security professionals during the Campus Safety Conferences, regarding what they see on their campuses and some of the solutions they have deployed or are considering implementing. In addition to Hattersley, speakers will include Guy Grace, a chairperson at the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools, and Mary Ford, the chief marketing and customer officer at Centegix, which is sponsoring the webinar.
