August 13, 2004—Behind supply chain tracking, security is often considered RFID’s second most useful application. As the U.S. government tries to patch the holes at its borders to prevent terrorist infiltration, RFID is increasingly playing a role in tracking shipments and containers coming into the country. According to some, RFID is “the answer for homeland defense at [U.S.] ports.”
