December 16, 2004—Another RFID column appeared on popular investor site The Motley Fool today, suggesting an ever-increasing interest in the technology from the lay investor community. Considered are the prospects of three small-cap companies: Digital Angel, Click Commerce, and Gaming Partners. RFID is, in one way or another, a core feature of each company’s strategy. Digital Angel (site, quote), licensor of the infamous human-implantable VeriChip, is a leader in animal and human RFID chipping. Click Commerce (site, quote) is an enterprise software firm whose recent purchase of bTrade, a data synchronization company recently contracted by Home Depot to work on the retailer’s RFID initiative, make it an RFID player. Finally, Gaming Partners (site, quote) is a gambling supplies company working to implant RFID in casino gambling chips.
