MonsoonRF announces two new products for 2017 – and PURE™ (Prevention Unnecessary Radiation Exposure) technology: a patent pending option to automatically suspend reader operation if the antenna is blocked or someone is too close which may cause a harmful situation to human being.
The MonsoonRF “RFID in a Light” product line has two new entries, the Lantern F™ fluorescent tube replacement and the Lantern S™ Edison base Floodlight together with a patent pending safety measure available for all Lantern™ “Hands Free” RFID offerings.
The Lantern-T™, introduced at RFID Live 2016, is an RFID reader system in a BR30 Tracklight housing, complete with an RF controllable light, antenna and Impinj R2000 based reader. Snap the Lantern T™ into your existing lighting track, point the light at the items you wish to read and installation is complete. The Lantern™ products are provided with drivers that work with a variety of software packages.
The new Lantern-F™ available late summer in 2017, is a complete RFID reader and antenna system built into a Fluorescent LED replacement tube. (See Figure 1 below). The Lantern-F™ is initially available in 48 inch T8 LED tubes and so with other type of T’s and lengths for custom fit. Installing a complete Fixed Infrastructure “Hands Free” RFID system is as easy as replacing one light in every fixture.
The new Lantern-S™ is a complete RFID reader system, integrated into an Edison base (screw in) BR30 LED floodlight (See Figure 2 below).
Hands Free RFID: “As easy as changing a lightbulb”. Other lamp base options (e.g. bayonet) will soon be available on special order.

The Lantern™ product line will be optionally available in 2017 with MonsoonRF’s patent pending PURE™ automatic ‘Prevention from Unwanted RF Exposure’ technology. Inspired by one of our clients, Readers with PURE™ protects users from unnecessary and unwanted exposure to RF by interrupting reader operation if someone or something is less than 36 cm (18 inches) directly in front of an active RFID Antenna. When triggered, a PURE™ proximity alarm is sent to the user and the reader enters a selectable back off mode, reducing the time the reader can transmit, backing off RF power, or suspending reader operation altogether.
