How Can I Design My Own EAS Tags?

Published: December 17, 2010

I am searching for a basic software package for designing electronic article surveillance (EAS) tags. We have some applications that require specific design shapes, sizes and operating frequencies. Are you aware of any packages currently on the market?

RFID and EAS are two different things, though research conducted by the University of Arkansas’ RFID Research Center suggests RFID might be used for antitheft purposes. If you are looking to use the technology for detecting the theft of goods, I would suggest working with a firm that designs RFID tags. Companies such as Avery Dennison, NXP Semiconductors and UPM Raflatac have labs that can quickly custom-design tags. I am unaware, however, of any packages that would enable you to design your own tags.

If any of our readers are aware of such a product, please paste information about it below. Thank you.
