According to Sanjiv Dua, the president of training and consulting firm RFID4U, the passwords to lock memory and to kill a tag can be changed by a reader unless the permalock feature was enabled when the tag was written to. Permalock locks the tag’s memory forever, he explains, and it cannot be unlocked thereafter.
