There are a variety of middleware solutions that can handle data from a variety of sources, including active RFID systems, passive RFID systems, bar codes and so forth. However, there is no solution of which I am aware that is tailored to the business needs of the oil and gas industry, or that provides real-time location data based on inputs from these various systems. Instead, the middleware routes data to existing enterprise applications. If any of our readers are aware of such a solution for that sector, please post information about it below.
