RFID in Manufacturing

October 20, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Manufacturing companies are employing RFID and IoT technologies to achieve major benefits, both in their supply chains and in their factory operations. This track will focus on showing companies how they can cut costs and boost efficiencies by tracking tools, jigs, reusable containers, work-in-process, finished inventory and more. In this virtual event, hear how leading manufacturing firms are using RFID to achieve benefits today.

Plastics Manufacturer Reconfigures Safe Workplace with BLE
A plastics manufacturer deployed a real-time location system (RTLS) to manage worker safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. The solution has enabled the employer to train employees regarding safe work protocols. The system, which employs Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and RF technology, detects where workers are located and their proximity to each other. Since being deployed, the technology has enabled the firm’s management to watch traffic flows and reconfigure its layout to provide safer distances between workers.

11:40 AM
Cable Maker Uses RFID to Improve Inventory Visibility
A cable manufacturer has gained full visibility into its work-in-progress (WIP), including as many as 10,000 cables in the assembly process at any given time, thanks to a UHF RFID solution. The system is an RFID asset-management and inventory-control system that enables the company to locate products on the assembly floor by viewing a dashboard. Learn how the firm is using RFID to reduce losses, save labor time that employees previously spent searching for products and eliminate the need for quarterly inventory counts.

12:05 PM
Choosing the Right RFID Technology for Manufacturing
Manufacturers are using RFID technology for a wide array of applications, including tracking parts bins, returnable transport containers, tools, work-in-process, finished goods inventory and much more. Choosing the right RFID system for each applications, while building out an infrastructure for tracking and better managing other assets, requires a clearly thought out strategy. This session outlines the steps manufacturers need to take to take to choose the right technology for today—and for tomorrow.

12:35 PM
RFID Reduces Inventory Time and Increases Efficiencies
A manufacturer of construction materials is employing a radio frequency identification solution to track the locations of 50,000 pallets loaded with products and has thereby reduced the amount of time needed to take inventory of its clay roofing tiles by 98 percent. The system also ensures that personnel know where a specific product is located when they need to load it onto a truck. Learn how the firm has expanded the deployment to include supplies and tools, to better ensure that components and materials required for manufacturing can be found when needed.
