AIM, NFC Forum, RAIN RFID Alliance Launch Connections Summit
The one-day event will feature more than 25 speaker-led sessions, panel discussions, case studies and networking opportunities focused on how automatic-identification and data-capture (AIDC), Near Field Communication (NFC) and RFID technologies can make the world more connected for businesses and consumers. The keynote addresses will be delivered by Antony Passemard, Google's project management lead for the Google Cloud platform, and Raghu Das, IDTechEx's CEO. The Connections Summit will feature multiple tracks covering the Internet of Things (IoT), retail, smart products, security, blockchain, health care and other market opportunities.
"What is particularly notable about the Connections Summit is its emphasis on presentations based on real-world deployments and case studies using the technology," said Mary Lou Bosco, AIM's chief operating officer, in a prepared statement. "There has been a surge in the use of these technologies and industry leaders including Avery Dennison, L'Oreal and Lenovo among others will present at the Connections Summit on the use of AIDC, NFC and RFID in both business and by consumers."
"With over two billion NFC-enabled smartphones in use helping to connect the almost 36 billion IoT devices in the world we are rapidly becoming a connected planet," added Paula Hunter, the NFC Forum's executive director, in the prepared statement. "The Connections Summit is a topical and timely knowledge exchange about the ongoing integration of technologies providing improved connectivity for IoT, blockchain, retail, transportation, healthcare and other opportunities."
Steve Halliday, the RAIN RFID Alliance's president, added in the prepared statement, "We are honored to present this inaugural Connections Summit at Google and thank all our sponsors for their support. With RAIN RFID connecting more than 10 billion everyday items annually, the three simultaneous tracks of the Connections Summit provide a great opportunity for everyone to learn more."
