Key Takeaways:
- IEEE RFID 2026 will take place June 16–18 in Santa Fe, bringing together global researchers to present new RFID applications and technology.
- The event will include keynote talks, four tutorials, and an RFID4U certification course designed to support both learning and professional development.
The IEEE Council on RFID announced that it will hold its 20th annual conference from June 16 to June 18, at the Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico. During the event, researchers from around the world will present the latest research in RFID applications and technology, giving attendees unique insights into the coming innovations in the industry.
“This event is unique in that it offers an opportunity to learn about what’s happening in labs around the world and network with RFID innovators,” said Alessandro Cattaneo, general chair of the event’s organizing committee. “We have several tutorials, RFID certification training and a one-of-a-kind guided tour of historic Los Alamos that will take you back in time and explore the Manhattan Project (Project Y)”.
The event will feature three keynote presentations. Richard Ribón Fletcher, PhD., a research scientist at MIT, will present “The Evolution of Chipless RFID,” and Rafael Pous, PhD., will present “RFID Everywhere, All the Time,” a session in which he will present examples of how an RFID physical network can be combined with other sensors, such as cameras and ultra-wideband (UWB), using AI-enabled sensor fusion to generate a digital twin of physical reality, a rich, dynamic dataset representing the state and evolution of objects, people, and their interactions.
What is the Agenda for IEEE’s Conference
Mark Roberti, founder of RFID Journal and current president of the RFID Professional Institute, will discuss the issues holding RFID back from mass adoption. He will explore opportunities for innovation that have been overlooked and offer suggestions for getting to ubiquitous RFID.
In addition to papers presented by academics from around the world, the event will feature four tutorials this year on June 18:
- The RF in RFID
- Energy Harvesting
- Circuits and Cryptography
- Middleware and Software Applications
How to Register for IEEE RFID 2026
New this year, IEEE RFID 2026 will also an advanced, one-day RFID certification course, presented by RFID4U on June 19, covering the latest equipment and relevant RFID deployment scenarios. This course will provide a solid foundation to design, install, configure, monitor and troubleshoot RFID deployment, as well as prepare participants for the RFID Professional Institute Certified Associate exam. Each participant will receive a voucher to take the exam online, after the event.
IEEE RFID 2026 offers a unique opportunity to share, discuss, and witness research results in all areas of RFID technologies and their applications. Registrations for the IEEE conference and RFID4U Training are now open. Visit https://2026.ieee-rfid.org/ to learn more.
