Best Practices in RFID Tag Selection for Asset-Tracking Applications

Published: February 20, 2013

End users are evaluating RFID for asset tracking and management across a broad spectrum of markets, to increase visibility, improve efficiency and reduce costs. A critical consideration in any asset-tracking application is the RFID tag, which is attached to IT assets, capital equipment, containers and returnable transport items to manage the movement of assets between facilities and geographic regions. There are many considerations customers need to make in selecting the proper RFID technology and tag for their application, including the tag’s expected lifespan, the environment, read-distance requirements and the asset being tagged. This session will examine each of these considerations, with a specific focus on passive technologies for IT asset tracking and returnable-transport tracking.
