Vendors are extremely reluctant to publish pricing, claiming it depends on volume, configuration and so forth. For that reason, I am reluctant to point you to a specific company or product.
I will say that you should be able to obtain an ultrahigh-frequency (UHF) reader with a built-in antenna for under $1,000, from several vendors. A search of the Web should turn up distributors with discounts. Just be sure the model you order, if it has external antennas, includes the antennas, cabling and other extras.
