I'm a university student compiling a business report on RFID technology. Is there any way I can get an estimate of the number of RFID portals being utilized in warehouses in the United Kingdom?
Companies such as ABI Research, Venture Development Corp. and Frost & Sullivan create reports on the size of the RFID hardware, software and services market, but I don't believe they break down data by portal readers versus other types of interrogators.
Having said that, I would estimate the number to be fairly small—say, fewer than 1,000. That's a guess, but it's based on the fact that not a lot of companies have deployed RFID in warehouses, and those that have often track goods with forklift truck readers, rather than portals.
If any of our readers have more specific information, please post it below. Thanks.
