Are any companies currently conducting inventories using RFID to monitor materials within a warehouse that may be stacked up to 30 feet high?

Yes. I visited Hewlett-Packard's warehouse in São Paulo, Brazil, where the company stacks pallets of printer engines very high. To accomplish this task, HP has developed a reader on a pole that can be raised and lowered as necessary. The device is wheeled around the warehouse to locate a particular pallet, or to count pallets.
