Do you foresee RFID solutions for the apparel sector becoming a market for current retail POS software vendors?

That's a very interesting question. Clearly, if businesses currently providing point-of-sale (POS) and back-end systems to apparel retailers were to build solutions, or add the ability to manage item-level serial numbers, they could take over the market for RFID retail solutions. To date, I have not seen any evidence that they are pursuing this option, though I'm sure that someone at these companies must be considering doing so.

I think the most likely scenario would involve such companies purchasing a software provider that offers RFID solutions for managing individual items via radio frequency identification, and then integrating that software with their solutions and sell the combined technology to existing customers.
