August 30, 2004—Forrester Research recently released a report entitled “Evaluating RFID Middleware” that assesses the burgeoning niche market for software that will help companies manage, filter, and capitalize on the flood of data produced by upcoming radio frequency identification implementations. The report considers the 13 major players currently active in the space, naming SAP as the leader in terms of long term RFID middleware success. While the platform giants IBM, Microsoft, and Oracle have yet to officially release their RFID solutions, the report asserts that they will successfully enter the market and establish long term positions.
