RFID Journal today announced the relaunch of RFID Connect, it’s official online community portal for end users, potential end users, academics, vendors and consultants interested in radio frequency identification technologies. This free, interactive portal is hosted by EventMingle (a provider of social-networking applications), and enables RFID Journal‘s readers to connect with each other online, throughout the year.

“We originally launched RFID Connect as a tool enabling event attendees to create a daily planner, as well as set up meetings with exhibitors and each other,” says Mark Roberti, RFID Journal‘s founder and editor. “Those features will remain, but we’ve also added many new features. What’s more, the site will be available year-round, instead of just during the months leading up to our RFID Journal LIVE! conference.”

More than 5,000 members have already joined RFID Connect. The redesigned portal offers the following features:

Product searches: End users will be able to search for the products and services they need, and vendors will have the option of posting information regarding their offerings.

Blogs: RFID hardware, software and service providers can post their own blogs on RFID Connect and communicate with the larger RFID community.

Forums: Users will be able to post questions or comments on open forums.

Polls: The forum system also supports user-created polls with multiple-choice answers.

Vendor information: Vendors have the ability to publish press releases online, as well as the option of offering RFID Connect users access to product brochures, white papers and other literature, thereby reducing the potential environmental impact of having to print such materials.

Job listings: RFID Journal has an RFID Career Center, but here is another area in which job seekers can post a résumé, and where companies looking to hire employees can post want ads.

“I believe that RFID Connect will be a valuable adjunct to RFID Journal‘s news site,” Roberti states, “because it will be a place where those interested in RFID hardware, software and services can engage each other directly.”
