June 21, 2004—New research from ABI cites consumer applications as a potentially strong growth area for RFID, particularly given the increasing integration of the technology into cell phones. By 2009, the research projects, 50% of advanced cell phones sold will include RFID technology. Eventually, RFID will also be integrated into consumer electronic devices other than phones, such as cameras and music players.
