December 14, 2004—As the penetration of RFID technology increases around the world, so too does the number of case studies covered in IDTechEx’s RFID Knowledgebase. The online repository of RFID deployment case studies has surpassed the 1,300 mark, with over 1,350 companies covered. Recent trends reflected in the knowledgebase’s demographics include growing RFID activity in Asia. Unlike in the U.S. and Europe, Asian RFID adoption is not retailer mandate-driven. Instead, initiatives are often headed by government and the suppliers themselves. (This is certainly consistent with today’s RFID Update story above regarding the South Korean government’s interest in RFID.)
The RFID Knowledgebase is categorized into the following vertical industries: airlines and airports, animals and farming, financial and security, healthcare, land and sea logistics, laundry, leisure, libraries and archiving, manufacturing, military, passenger transport, and retail and consumer packaged goods. Annual subscriptions are available for $2,750 US.
