BSN, owned by Chinese company Baoshen Group, has announced the launch of its M700 radio frequency identification inlays. These inlays, according to the company, incorporate  Impinj‘s M730 and M750 chipsets and are designed to increase the sensitivity and read range of RFID labels.

Available in three sizes—50 millimeters by 30 millimeters (2 inches by 1.2 inches), 70 millimeters by 14 millimeters (2.8 inches by 0.6 inch), and 42 millimeters by 16 millimeters (1.7 inches by 0.6 inch)—the new inlays offer sensitivity ratings of up to -24 dBm, the company reports. According to BSN, this rating produces a greater read range from a smaller label footprint. The chip’s smaller size enables more dies per wafer, the company notes, producing a lower carbon footprint in semiconductor foundry production.

BSN says it is harnessing the loss-prevention capabilities of the M700 chips, and the inlays are available with either 96 or 128 bits of memory. Though offered on a low-powered logic chip, BSN notes, the -24 dBm sensitivity allows for improved readability when products are densely packed or stacked, or when there are numerous metal shelves or other obstructions that have traditionally created a challenge for RFID tags and labels. An auto-tune feature allows for greater accuracy when the technology is used in global applications at various radio frequencies.

Founded in 1988, Baoshen Group supplies products to more than 500 organizations throughout 16 countries, including China, the United States, Brazil, and nations in Europe and Southeast Asia. The company offers a range of packaging, trims, labels and RFID solutions for retail, apparel, footwear and warehouse applications.

Baoshen Group is among China’s leading manufacturers of packaging materials for footwear, apparel, bags, furniture, cosmetics, accessories and other products. In the RFID space, the company offers labels, hardware and software. BSN currently produces one billion RFID labels annually, and it also offers hangtags, hangers, self-adhesive stickers, printed woven products, bridles and leather crafts.
