Regular visitors to RFID Journal’s website will no doubt be familiar with the categories of articles we call Editor’s Notes and Expert Views. The former are pretty easily defined, given the name—they’re observations from the editors of RFID Journal, providing our insights on any number of topics related to the world of radio frequency identification and the Internet of Things. These articles cover anything Mark Roberti or I find interesting, thought-provoking and worth sharing. You’re reading one right now, in fact. You probably already knew that.
Expert Views, meanwhile, are vendor-neutral guest editorials covering RFID, the IoT, Near Field Communication, Bluetooth Low Energy, artificial intelligence, digital twins, LoRaWAN, ultrawideband and other related technologies, as well as how companies and organizations in various industries can best put them to good use. These opinion-based contributed pieces provide fresh perspectives for our readership that go beyond the typical issues we cover daily in our news coverage and in our premium content. They focus not on promoting particular companies or products, but rather on educating our audience. And like Editor’s Notes, they offer valuable insights.
Now we’ve added a new category of articles which we call Trends. As with our Editor’s Notes and Expert Views, these articles contain insights regarding RFID and the Internet of Things, but rather than offering one individual’s opinion, they are intended to examine the broader trends in the industry. Each of these articles originated at the RFID Journal LIVE! blog, maintained by our marketing manager, Sarah Gough, but we’ve added them to our main site as well for easy reader access, and you may have noticed that we’ve begun highlighting them in our weekly email newsletters. Recent entries include:

Therefore, we’ve created a new tab at RFIDJournal.com labeled “Insights,” with a dropdown menu providing access to all three article categories. We’ll add more Trends articles as they’re posted at the LIVE! blog, and we welcome your feedback regarding which ones you find the most useful.
