RFID in Golf - can it work?

By O. Goffe 2013-11-19 11:03:04 AM

Hi,

I'm researching a new product/solution for the golf industry and I was hoping that an RFID professional might be able to advise.

What we'd like to do is tell how far a ball/player is from the hole without using GPS. Could an RFID transmitter be attached to the hole/pin which sends a signal to a receiver, held by the player, which shows the yardage to the hole? And could this work on every hole on an 18 hole golf course?

Apologies for my ignorance in regard to this question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
