ISO15693 security, OK for access control?

By R. 2012-07-26 06:24:33 AM

Hi, Community,

We are looking for a new door access control system for our hacklab/office spaces, and have been checking out ISO15693 based tags (vicinity). It'd be nice to simply approach the door and access would be granted, rather than fiddling with stuff in your pockets.

However, it's very hard to figure out which kind of encryption is used. Is ISO15693 only a "wrapper" protocol not discussing the encryption?

Is ISO15693 secure enough for door access control?

Our alternative would be DESFire EV1, but that would have less of a "cool"/convenience factor.
