June 14, 2004—At last week's aviation forum, both Boeing and Airbus announced their intention to require suppliers to begin RFID-tagging shipments within one year. An improved shipping and tracking process could save the industry hundreds of millions of dollars currently lost to inaccurate data entry and other human errors.
