RFID Journal Launches RFID U.
RFID Journal will hold a series of one-day, intensive, hands-on seminars for executives who want to learn how to deploy RFID technology.
Jun 18, 2003—June 18, 2003 - RFID Journal has announced that it plans to hold a series of one-day educational seminars, dubbed RFID U., for executives who want to learn how to deploy RFID technologies successfully. The events will be held in San Francisco (Oct. 7), New York (Oct. 20), Atlanta (Nov. 3), and Chicago (Nov. 17).
"Many people are just beginning to learn about RFID and its potential to bring new efficiencies to their business," said Mark Roberti, the founder and editor of RFID Journal. "These events are aimed at helping them to get a much deeper understanding of all the issues that they'll need to tackle when they launch a pilot implementation."
Last week in Chicago, RFID Journal held its inaugural executive conference, which was attended by more than 450 senior executives from companies such as Blockbuster, DuPont, Kellogg Co., Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo, and Rubbermaid Home Products.
RFID Journal Live! educated senior executives about the business case for RFID. Speakers presented case studies of organizations, such as ES3, Marks & Spencer, Woolworths, the US Department of Defense and others that already are using RFID successfully. Other sessions explored key technology, business and cultural issues, including the importance of protecting consumer privacy when implementing RFID.
RFID U. will drill down even deeper into the technology to help companies get hands-on experience with RFID. Attendees will be able to experiment with actual tags on actual products, learn how readers work and how to cope with interference issues. They also will gain insights into how to develop an IT architecture that can handle RFID data and how to use RFID to transform inventory management.
Breakout sessions will give attendees a chance to focus on their particular industry. Attendees will work with experts to solve a specific implementation problem and learn how to create a project plan for deploying RFID in manufacturing, retail and logistics.
