Janam Offers Contactless Self-Credentialing Solutions With NFC

The company recently debuted its XT3 touch computer and Guardian GT1 entry pedestal, designed to improve access control.

Janam Technologies, a provider of rugged mobile computers designed to capture data and communicate wirelessly, recently unveiled its latest contactless ticketing technologies. The company's XT3 rugged touch computer and Guardian GT1 entry pedestal are designed to allow individuals to gain access to an enterprise by digitally self-certifying their identities, Janam reports.

Whether an individual is attending a live event, boarding an airplane, riding a subway train, picking up a prescription or bringing a child to a hospital emergency room, Janam explains, the customer experience is heavily dependent on how quickly that person can certify his or her identity. With the XT3 or GT1 devices, Janam indicates, businesses in multiple industries can provide a "tap-and-go" experience to move customers through the identification process quickly and securely.

Powered by Android 9 (and upgradable to future versions of Android), the XT3 touch computer offers the same form factor and design as Janam's XT2+ model, but incorporates newer computer-processing, wireless-communication and data-capture technologies to boost productivity and efficiency. Android Enterprise Recommended certification means the XT3 meets demanding enterprise requirements, according to the company.

Guardian is Janam's family of access-management hardware solutions, and the GT1 entry pedestal is the first available device in the line. Providing safe, secure and barrier-free entry, the GT1 integrates an XT3 touch computer into a compact mobile pedestal to offer a flexible, modular venue-entry system for indoor and select outdoor environments. The GT1 will also support the XT2+ model.

Select models of the XT2+ and XT3 mobile computers support both Enhanced Contactless Polling (ECP) for Apple Wallet and Smart Tap for Google Pay. Individuals can tap an iPhone, Apple Watch or Android-powered smartphone on an XT3 or GT1 (with an integrated XT2+ or XT3), and integrated proximity-based NFC technology will automatically pull the appropriate pass, thereby speeding up self-credentialing and enabling businesses in sports, entertainment, health care, travel, retail and hospitality to build relationships with customers at the point of access.

Janam's rugged mobile computers and entry pedestals are designed to offer high computing performance, barcode scanning and NFC functionality, the company reports. The firm's products are intended to help businesses increase patron throughput, eliminate fraud, minimize costs and connect with customers. Standard two-year warranties are available for both the XT3 and GT1 at no additional cost, with optional service plans for those looking to extend their mobile-computing investment.

"Rather than fight the disruption to barcode scanning that is created by NFC and contactless technology, Janam is embracing it," said Harry B. Lerner, Janam Technologies' CEO, in a prepared statement. "More people are using Apple Wallet and Google Pay than ever, and we are excited for the day that consumers will no longer need to carry unwieldy wallets stuffed with paper tickets, IDs, boarding passes and multiple membership cards, and thrilled that Janam is playing an integral role in this evolution."
