Enable IPC is a technology-development startup located in Madison, Wisc. The firm has developed a new solar-powered radio frequency identification tag, known as the S/Cap tag, which it claims can be read from a distance of 75 feet (see Ultracapacitor Offers 75-Foot Read Range for Passive Tags).
Regarding your question, I do not know Enable IPC well, as they are new, and I have not yet spoken to any end users or systems integrators that have tested the S/Cap tag, so I am unable to say whether it lives up to the company's performance claims. The product sounds innovative, and there might well be a market for it.
If you have an interest in using the S/Cap tag to track assets, I would suggest acquiring a few and testing them first.
