October 27, 2004—RFID printing and encoding company Zebra Technologies and RFID computing solutions provider ThingMagic this week announced a deal that will allow the licensing of ThingMagic’s RFID reader, the Mercury4e, for use in Zebra label printers and encoders. The Mercury4e reader is the industry’s only that can read all types and classes of RFID tags, including those that conform to the upcoming EPCglobal Generation 2 standard (“GEN 2”). It is a very small and easily implemented reader package whose software-based architecture allows for its reading capabilities to be upgraded as RFID tag standards and formats evolve over time.
